Abstract
The quality of the building constructed by local contractors is becoming an issue due
to the marvelous complaints of defective wolks and created a bad image and
reputation on the Malaysia construction industry.
The high rate of house defects wolks is reflected the lack of awareness on the quality
controls being practiced by the local contractors nowadays. Thus, this research is to
find out the reasons causing the high rate of defects work so that the best solutions
and advices can be easily discover.
Beside that, the existing practice of quality control by local contractors and the status
of the low quality problems are the crucial areas to be discovered and investigate to
obtain a real picture on the weaknesses areas and to find a ways for improvements.
As we knows, one of the best solutions to the low quality of properties is to
implement the ISO 9000 quality system but the acceptance on this system is still on a
low rate and not popular. The reasons causing the low popularity of the ISO 9000
standards only can be explained by research on the weaknesses or problems of
implementations and the advantages of the system to promote it.
