| dc.description.abstract | The natural products constituents of the bark of Parameria i laevigata (Al· Juss.) Moldenke was investigated. There is currently lack of research and publication on this plant. The powdered bark·of the plant ~as continuously extracted with petroleum ether, chloroform and methanol. The investigation afforded sterols, triterpenoids, coumarin and their related compounds which were identified spectroscopically. Sterols isolated from the petroleum ether extract were identified aq a mixture of campesterol, stigmasterol, sitosterol and stigmast-7-enol, cycloeucalenol and sitosterol fatty acid ester. Triterpenoids isolated from the petroleum ether extract were identified as friedelin, lupeol fatty acid ester, a mixture of lupeol, a-amyrin and P-amyrin, and a derivative of lupane while ursolic acid and a derivative of vanguerolic acid were isolated from the chloroform extract. Scopoletin, a coumarin and a mixture of sterol glycosides identified as campesterol, stigmasterol, sitosterol and stigmast-7-enol glucosides were also isolated from the chloroform extract. | en_US |
