Abstract
This research explores how humour principles derived from renowned Chinese cartoonist Fang Cheng can guide university students in designing effective memes for digital communication. Drawing parallels between memes and humorous cartoons, the study applies Incongruity Theory to assess Fang Cheng’s visual humour framework through image comparison, cartoon analysis, stimulative meme analysis, and quantitative surveys involving 230 students and over 10 experts.
