Abstract
Automation is helpful in industries as it can perform repetitive tasks with better precision and accuracy. Besides, the operation period of manufacturing process is much longer if it is compared to the human labor. Of course, there are still some tasks that requires experiences and involves psychology that is still irreplaceable by machine in current technologies. Most of the industries had implemented automation system such as inspection and testing into their manufacturing process. This work aims to develop a system that will function as an inspection system for automation system that will be installed in the testing area in the plant of oscilloscope production in the future. The work will present the way in finding the BNC of the oscilloscope and determining its position so the connection can be made when the whole system is fully developed in the future. This prototype is a mock implementation hence the positions of the BNC can be adjusted so it can be aligned with the center of camera or otherwise, and the system will detect it and output the estimated data of the position. This work focused on the estimation of the center of BNC to the center of camera based on the circle detected and the computation of the angle of rotation of the BNC according to the distance between the center of circles detected. The distances of center of inner circle from the center of camera was calculated. The distances between the center of two circles in pixels were calculated and the angle of rotation of BNC was computed once the distance of center of inner circle was zero. The results of the estimation of the horizontal distance of the BNC from the center of camera and the exact distance of BNC from the camera both yielded error of around 4% where the error in estimating the angle of rotation of the BNC about vertical axis was 0 to 3 degrees.
