Abstract
Smart Internet of Things (IoT) Based Flood Detection and Warning System using wireless sensor network is a project to detect flood data in flood-prone area. Water level data are essential in order to predict the flood disaster. To track and predict the flood, the project will design a system with two node stations that uses a wireless sensor network (WSN), which consists of an Internet of Things platform, transceiver sensor to transmit and receive data, and a computational device. This system is based on two NodeMCU based technology integrated to Blynk application. The working principle for this mechanism begins with a sensor collecting flood parameters at a flood- prone area, follows by the transmission of these parameters from hardware system to the monitoring device. The system will automatically compare the measured parameter with the threshold value that have been set for the probability of flood disaster. The processing system then will trigger a warning message to Blynk application if the water level surpassed the threshold values that have been set. Preliminary test, indoor test, and outdoor test have been conducted to verify the accuracy and the effectiveness of the proposed system. It is identified that this system is reliable in detecting and monitoring water level, and notifying users on the potential flood occurrence in the future.
