Abstract
Global Positioning System (GPS) is one of the technologies that are utilised in a wide range of applications today to locate one’s position accurately. GPS is globally used for the tracking and navigation purpose. This paper described the implementation of hardware and software in developing the system of ultrasonic sensor range finder which can visualize the feedback of sound in the form of measured distance. Then, GPS is used in this tracking device for localizing an object position at regular time intervals. This tracking system can provide the location and that information can be observed from any other remote location. It also contains the web server that displays the object’s exact location. The object tracking experiments with different distances are conducted in open air and water medium in a container. The main hardware components of the system are u-blox NEO-6M GPS module, waterproof ultrasonic sensor JSN-SR04T and ESP32 microcontroller. A single JSN-SR04T had been used to determine the distance of an object based on operation of the classic pulse echo detection method. The GPS modules will generate the coordinates of latitude and longitude of each tracking device respectively. Hence, the output is displayed on serial monitor of Arduino software (IDE). During the process of development of the project, the outcome has been proven to be positive for tracking and localization in an open air.
