Abstract
Vibrations that occur during piling work can be harmful to the adjacent structures or sensitive machineries operating nearby. Vibrations also produce noise that can disturb the human. During piling, energy is transferred into the soil. The transmitted energy from pile to ground can cause damage to adjacent structures if the involved are excessive. This report presents relationships between pile size and total vibrations. Model piles with diameter of 15 mm, 25 mm, 44 mm, 50 mm, and 80 mm were used with a 10 kg hammer. It was found that the bigger the size pile used the higher the vibrations. Also found, the further the monitoring point the lower the vibrations. The outcome from this research will help the civil engineer to solve the problem about pile vibration.
