Abstract
Three-phase synchronous generators are the primary source of all the electrical energy we consume. These machines are the largest energy converters in the world. They convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, in powers ranging up to 1500MW. A voltage regulator is an electrical regulator designed to automatically maintain a constant voltage level. Automatic voltage regulator for three phase generator becomes more popular where the system produces better quality of output with fewer defects. Therefore, the study of designing an automatic voltage regulator and power transistor for switching the field current is very popular and important nowadays. This paper will present the design of an automatic voltage regulator for three phase generator. This project includes the design of the circuit and fabrication of the hardware. From the study of designing this project, phase controlled IC had become a major element in an automatic controlling device. The phase angle that produced by it, can be generated by the same source. The circuit consists of two part which are main part and switching part. The main part is the power circuit and the switching part is the part that will drive the power circuit using switching device. This paper focus on the design of automatic voltage regulator using phase controller topology. From this project, it seems like the automatic voltage regulator had make the work of the controlling the generator has became easier where it will be done by automatically.
