Abstract
In this paper, a design of system for solar photovoltaic (PV) supplies corresponding to Malaysia region is developed. As solar energy has becoming more and more popular as it is an environmentally friendly renewable energy source, the study of the its research and development has becoming increasingly important. In this paper, the methodology used is to determine the design space for estimation, calculation, analysis, and synthesis of all the specifications required in the solar photovoltaic system. After the estimation of load usage for hostel Desa Lembaran 3 is made, the following specifications are required to determine, it includes the sizing of the solar photovoltaic module needed, the sizing of solar power inverter required, the sizing of solar battery, and the sizing of solar controller charger needed in the whole system. The result of the design done is the solar system needed 2003 pieces of 75W solar panels. For the rating of inverter, the system requires 469.461kW. Hence, thesolar system needs to install 16 pieces of 30kW solar inverter. The capacity of battery required by the system is 12V 250kAh. Therefore, 1000 pieces of solar battery with 12V 250Ah rating is needed. For the rating of solar charge controller, the system requires 12V 12.7kA rating. So, the solar system needs to install 318 pieces of 12V 40A solar charge controller. Last but not least, the summary of this project and the overall conclusion is made in the last chapter of this paper. Besides that, a discussion about future work is made in the end.
