Abstract
Calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) is widely used in industries like construction, paper, pharmaceuticals, and biomedicine due to its abundance and versatile properties. However, conventional CaCO₃ extraction and synthesis require high energy consumption and have negative environmental impacts, driving the need for more sustainable production methods. Microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP), driven by microbial urease activity, offers an eco-friendly method. This study evaluates Bacillus subtilis for MICP-based CaCO₃ production using calcium chloride and calcium nitrate, focusing on domestic wastewater as a sustainable resource.
