dc.description.abstractData mining (DM) technology has become an important tool for an organization to be information intelligent and advantage in competing in business. The objective of this study was to assess employees' DM readiness (DMR) in the banking industry in Penang. Optimism, innovativeness and discomfort were the components used to measure employees' DMR. Results from the study indicated that employees' DMR was slightly above neutral. Nonetheless, there is a positive sign with respect to the employees' DMR in future. In terms of demographics, employees' DMR is found to be statistically different by gender, ethnicity, job function and level of education. ยท The other part of the study was to examine the relationship between employees' DMR and the independent variables. The independent variables were Business Strategy Clarity, Extent of the User's Skills and Experience, Data-Oriented Culture, and Technology Infrastructure and Data Quality. The findings of the study provided empirical evidence that employees' DMR is significantly influenced by Business Strategy Clarity, and Extent of the User's Skills and Experiences. Conversely, Data Oriented Culture, and Technology Infrastructure and Data Quality were not significant.en_US
