Small RNA (sRNA) has been shown to play important gene regulatory roles in both eukaryotes (commonly known as microRNA) and prokaryotes. In bacteria, sRNAs regulate biofilm formation, quorum sensing, virulence, and environmental stress response. Of the various stress responses, the heat shock response has been extensively studied in many pathogenic bacteria and extremophiles.en_US
