dc.description.abstractEcotourism is one of the new tourism products in Malaysia which is based on ecology, education and agriculture. Cameron Highlands is one of the largest highland resorts in Malaysia. Cameron Highlands is a famous tourist destination with cool pleasant climate and rich biodiversity. The tourism sector is an important economic resource in Cameron Highlands. This research examined ecotourism activities in Cameron Highlands, tourist perception on deforestation and erosion or landslide and tourist perception on measures to conserve the environment in Cameron Highlands. A total of 384 tourists were selected based on random and stratified sampling. Data from the survey were analysed using Chi Square test. The results indicated that tourists are attracted to ecotourism activities which are trekking in the jungle, watching flora and fauna in the jungle, visit orang asli villages and visit natural countryside surroundings. In tourist perception, the issues of deforestation and erosion or landslide were considered serious. These problems not only bring negative effects but also threaten the tourism sector in Cameron Highlands. In tourist peception, conservation measures are needed to protect the environment in Cameron Highlands. In conclusion, ecotourism is the best option for development towards achieving sustainable development in Cameron Highlands.en_US
