dc.description.abstractThis study investigates the processes of structured group. The main focus of this study revolves around three aspects. The first aspect revolves around the counseling elements while the second aspect analyses the roles of the counselor in creating these elements. The third aspect identifies the relevance and appropriateness of the structured group process_Fhich is hoped will be adopted and practised in Malaysia. This . .study was conducted on three structured group processes via empirical method. The research subjects range from secondary students, trainee teachers and university graduates. The structured group processes was carried out continuously for five sessions and at all the five levels. The process was based on the Structured Group Process KZ Model. It is hoped that this model would serve as a proposed model to evaluate the effectiveness in creating the appropriate counseling elements and the role of a counselor. The model was formed based on proposals and suggestions obtained from previous researches. The tools used to conduct the study were via inventory of Q Sort, observations and interviews. Al! the processes of structured group were video taped to enable observations to be repeatedly carried out by the three observers. Apart from that, all the processes were transcripted so that a thorough analysis could be done. The results showed that the proposed Structured Group Process KZ Model was successful in producing all the counseling elements via the fifteen roles of the counselor. The implementation of the model attracted a high degree of support and interest among the clients. This study also succeeded in proving that this model of structured group process has a high level of scientific value. Proposed procedures can be easily repeated and vvill produce consistent results. The study shows that the model can be applied to a wide range of clients with fast and precise effects. It is hoped that the findings will serve as a platform in upgrading the counseling services among Malaysian counselors to a higher professional level.en_US
