Abstract
The roles and responsibilities of the pharmacists in the developed world have evolved historically from a focus on medicines compounding and dispensing to extended pharmaceutical care services. However, in developing countries pharmacists are not fully engaged in the patient centred roles. They are still struggling to be recognised as an integral part of healthcare system. Similarly, in Pakistan, pharmacists are only responsible for compounding and supplying medicines, and their clinical roles have yet to be developed. In order to justify the clinical role of pharmacist in developing countries it is necessary to bring up the evidences on the impact of pharmacist as health educator in the existing healthcare setting. Therefore, the aim of this research was to evaluate the impact of a pharmacist initiated health education programme for improving hepatitis-B (HB) patients' disease state knowledge and health related quality of life in Quetta city, Pakistan.
