| dc.description.abstract | The growing use of information technology throughout the society in today's world has put a pressure on schools to replace manual information systems of the traditional paper and pencil technology. Today, educational institutions in Malaysia have taken the appropriate step by implementing computer-based information systems in schools in support of the nation's drive to fulfill its Vision 2020. This study has three objectives: (I) to investigate the impact of school administrators' attributes (attitude toward computer-based information systems, training m computers, and experience with computer-related activities) on the success of information systems implementation in schools; (2) to investigate whether user expectation is influenced by their attitude, training, and experience; and (3) to see whether user attributes and their expectations jointly influence information systems implementation success. Questionnaires were distributed to the selected secondary school administrators in the state of Penang where each school involved in the study has at least one computer for . . administrative purposes. Regression analyses indicate that only school administrators' attitude has a significant impact on the success of information systems implementation. Attitude and training are found to influence their expectations toward information systems. Findings also indicate that administrators' attitude toward computer-based information systems and their expectation jointly· has an influence over the systems success. The findings imply that positive attitude of school administrators is essential m assuring successful implementation of computer-based information systems. | en_US |
