dc.description.abstractThe Effectiveness of A Systematic Design of Instruction Among Secondary School Students research is aimed at developing and evaluating effectiveness of a Systematic Design of Instruction as compared to The Teacher Instructional Practice (PAG) among secondary school students. RPB is a modified approach of The Dick & Reiser (1989) model which is based upon cognitive and information processing theories. The researcher selected four topics from the form one geography subject to design the instruction. RPB and PAG were tested on a sample of 320 students selected at random from four schools in the Kinta District. Perak Darul Ridzuan. The research design used was the experimental method "Switch Over Design Between Two Groups of Pre-test and Post-test Contro 1 Group Design". Psycho 1 og i ca 1 Dimension tests (anxiety. locus of control, cognitive style) were conducted with the aim to evaluate the effects of instructional design. upon students with different levels of psychological dimension. The independent variables used in this research were Type of Instruction (RPB. PAG). Psychological Dimension (anxiety, locus of control. cognitive style) and Type of School (urban. rural) while the dependent variable was academic achievement of students. Hypotheses were formulated by stating that there were significant differences in the achievement levels among students in the learning of geography through the RPB when compared to PAG; with different levels of Psychological Dimension; between Type of School; and there were interactions of Type of Instruction with Psychological Dimension. The ANOVA procedures were used of Main Effect and the to determine the Source~ interactions between the independent variables. Significance of each independent variable was determined using t-tests and regression analyses were used to establish the contributions of each independent variable towards achievement. The outcome of this research showed that all the above hypotheses were accepted. Regression analyses revealed that Type of Instruction had contributed significantly towards determining achievement. This research also found that Psychological Dimension and School Type only had marginal contributions upon the achievement of students however these were significant.en_US
