- PublicationAdaptive Project Management Model For The International Development And Aid Projects(2022-04)Saleh, Firas Izzat Mahmoud MahmoudWith the increase of natural disasters and man-made crises and the rising levels of poverty and inequality globally, the International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs) sector has rapidly grown in response to humanitarian emergencies and the provision of aid to support social and economic development worldwide. INGOs realise their human goals through crossing the borders to diverse, vulnerable communities and contexts to implement International Development and Aid Projects (IDAPs). However, this diversity and the specific nature of these projects have created various complexities that diminished their success and sustainability. Therefore, this industry needs an adaptive Project Management Model (PM-Model) to suit the broader organisational aspects of IDAPs and industry-specificities to increase the success levels of projects. This study aims to provide an adaptive PM-Model for IDAPs based on the standard PMBOK® Guide integrating TQM as a relevant organisational approach and Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) as a relevant industry-specificities. Therefore, to meet the broader and longer-term organisational and social aspects. To that end, a three-round Delphi research process has been conducted to engage a group of experts to develop the required adaptations on the PMBOK® Guide and then validate the emerged PM-Model by another group of practitioners through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) validation workshop setting.
- PublicationAdoption Of Closed-loop Supply Chain Practices By Myhijau Mark Certified Manufacturing Firms In Malaysia: Antecedents, Constraints, Outcome And The Mediating Effect Of Green Capabilities(2023-09)Siali, FadilahClosed-Loop Supply Chain (CLSC) acquires cores or product returns from consumers, recovering their residual value and remarketing them. The rapidness of economic growth gives manufacturers no option to shorten the product life cycle. Consequently, the new version of product upgrade happens too fast, hence increasing product returns in the form of End of Life (EOL) or end of use. This study formulates a research model to examine the antecedent factors which influenced, the constraints of the closed-loop supply chain practice as well as the impact on the triple bottom line in Malaysia. This research also explores the mediating effects of green capabilities on the relationship between the firm's external antecedents and its adoption of a closed-loop supply chain. To test the research hypotheses, a structural equation model has been used to survey the data drawn from MyHijau Mark certified directory in Malaysia. Hundred and nine companies have answered all seventy items questionnaire through purposive sampling. Therefore, this study has aimed to explain the relationship between Institutional Theory, Resource Based View, Natural Resource-Based View (NRBV) and Knowledge based view Theory towards a CLSC adoption in Malaysia. The findings highlighted the role of the government in overpowering competitors and customers in adopting a CLSC.
- PublicationAn Empirical Study On Factors That Influence Value-Based Sustainability Of Non-Profit Organisations In Malaysia(2023-02)February 2023Non-profit organisations (NPOs) play a prominent role in realising Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2030 through service delivery and other aspects of sustainable development. However, it was acknowledged that NPOs face two main issues that might impair the organisations’ sustainability. First, the ongoing resource constraint issues that NPOs face worsen due to the COVID-19 crisis. Second, it was observed that NPOs emphasise less on “value-based” perspectives, whereby misalignment of interest between NPOs and stakeholders was noted. This scenario may impair organisational sustainability as value creation is hampered. Thus, addressing these two main issues, this study aims to answer the question: “What does it take for NPOs operating with limited resources to attain value-based sustainability (VBS) to achieve sustainable development?”. Due to limited resources from the government and funders, NPOs need to be more independent; hence, justifying the need to study organisation-specific factors that could influence the VBS of NPOs. Therefore, in line with the Social Resource-Based View (SRBV) and Resource Dependence Theory (RDT), this study examines the organisational factors influencing the VBS of NPOs in Malaysia. The organisational factors identified are organisational capacities, stakeholder engagement, social entrepreneurship orientation (SEO), cross-sector collaboration, and organisational fit.
- PublicationAn Evaluation Of The User Performance Impact: Health Information System Use In Kuwait Public Hospitals(2022-12)Alkouse, Reem H Y AIn many developed and developing nations, health information systems (HIS) are increasing rapidly in the healthcare industry. Despite the great development in the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the healthcare sector, implementation complexity is increasing, posing challenges for healthcare organizations. Kuwait Government has spent significant investments in implementing HIS among healthcare facilities, and it must be ensured that the systems are maintaining their goals of meeting the users’ needs and requirements and increasing work quality and performance. Certainly, it has been noted that there aren't enough evaluation studies and research on HIS adoption in Kuwait. (Alhuwail, 2020). Therefore, this research aims to assess HIS user performance as it is important to determine the IS success by determining its influencing factors. To do so, the basic theory for this study was the DeLone and McLean Information System Success Model, integrated with Task Technology Fit theory, Trust, and User resistance. A crosssectional, self-structured questionnaire was used to collect data. According to the study, trust and TTF are positively impacted by the system, information, and service quality. Whereas trust negatively affects user resistance, which negatively affects HIS use. It was also found that information, system, and service quality positively impact TTF, which consequently affects both HIS use and user performance. Furthermore, the study proved that individual characteristics positively impact TTF, but task characteristics did not influence TTF.

- PublicationBenchmarking Methodology For International Oil Companies Based On The Hybrid Strategy And Strategic Performance(2022-11)Al Sayed Noor, Alhamzah Malik RadhiPorter's new strategy (from now on referred to as the hybrid strategy) is based on a mix of differentiation and cost leadership. The literature on hybrid strategy confirms the investigation of such a strategy is mostly limited. With the suspicion of the pure strategies (i.e., differentiation, cost leadership, and focus) are active in strategic performance. Several open issues and challenges facing the implementation of a hybrid strategy and not been observed yet. This study aims to explore the influence of the context factors for the hybrid strategy on the strategic performance through the mediating variable, the content factors for the hybrid strategy. In addition, the researcher explores the strength of the relationship between the content factors for the hybrid strategy and the strategic performance through the interaction of readiness for change. To this end, this study completes the previous literature with a combination of the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and multicriteria decision-making (MCDM). Thus, the MCDM (i.e., best-worst-method [BWM] and vlsekriterijumska optimizcija i kaompromisno resenje [VIKOR]) are effective approachs to solving the problem of complexity and evaluation (i.e., multiple evaluation criteria, important criteria, and data variation).
- PublicationBoard Governance, Risk Governance And Bank Performance: The Moderating Role Of Competitive Intensity On Banks In Kuwaitfactors Influencing The Roles Of Environmental Ngos In The Bargaining Of P-xylene And Water Issues In Yunnan, China(2023-08)Hayati, Mohammad A M A B HCorporate and risk governance topics have gotten attention in the past years due to the impact of the successive financial crises. The focus of central banks and legislative institutions on these issues has taken a large part in order to support economies and increase investor confidence. This study focuses on studying the impact of new corporate governance regulations that was issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) in year 2012 on the accounting-based performance, measured by return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) and market based-performance, measured by Tobin’s Q and stock price movement. The sample selection includes 10 listed banks in the Kuwait stock exchange (KSE) covering the period from 2013 until 2019. The study selects three board governance variables namely board of directors’size, board of directors’ independence, and board of directors’ yearly meetings. The study as well chooses chief risk officer (CRO) presence, risk management committee size and yearly meetings as risk governance variables while bank size and bank leverage are used as control variables. The study highlights the importance of competitive intensity in the banking sector, which scarce research has been done on corporate governance previously, measured by bank concentration ratio (BCR) as a moderating variable that could impact the relationship. the study applies panel data regression analysis such as fixed effect model (FEM), random effect model (REM), and ordinary least square (OLS) method to examine the relationships.
- PublicationCompetencies And Work Performance Of Public Sector Auditors In Iraq: The Case Of Federal Board Of Supreme Audit(2022-12)Abd Hasan, Fayyadh Marwah JawadThe role of internal auditors is of high importance in the developing countries’ public sector as it involves providing independent and objective assurance and consultancy that can add value to public sector organizations. However, increased fraudulent and corruption activities within public sector organizations, particularly in developing countries such as Iraq, have elevated doubts regarding the effectiveness of the audit function. The Federal Board of Supreme Audit (FBSA) is Iraq’s leading authority to monitor the public sector institutions’ transparency, and conduct audits to evaluate the establishment and effectiveness of corporate governance within public sector organizations. Of late, the FBSA has faced challenges in terms of internal auditors’ performance which results in low confidence and trust of the public. The increased cases of fraud and corruption in the public sector of Iraq demand enhancement of FBSA internal auditors’ performance. Therefore, the key objective of the study is to examine the relationship between key influential internal auditors’ competencies, such as knowledge, effective internal communication, task self-efficacy, and computer self-efficacy, and internal auditors’ performance, such as task performance, contextual performance, and adaptive performance of internal auditors working in the FBSA, Iraq. The model of the study is underpinned by the social cognitive theory. The study also examined the moderating role of proactive personality on the relationship between internal auditors’ competencies and their performance.
- PublicationCredit Card Fraud Detection Using New Preprocessing And Hybrid Machine Learning Techniques(2023-07)Malik Gasim, Esraa FaisalOne of the significant problems in the credit card fraud domain is the increasing number of imbalanced data. The higher ratio of majority to minority classes can lead to misleading results, as conventional machine learning algorithms assume equal class distribution. The first contribution of this research is to develop a new preprocessing technique that utilizes cost-sensitive learning and resampling techniques at the data-level to improve the performance of highly imbalanced datasets. The developed preprocessing technique consists of three phases. In the first phase, several resampling techniques at the data-level, such as SMOTE-ENN, SMOTE-TOMEK, SMOTE-OSS, SMOTE-RUS, and ROS-RUS with their default parameters, are compared to find the optimum technique with the highest performance. The second phase involves using cost-sensitive learning with different ratios to determine the best range of ratios to be used in phase three. Subsequently, in the third phase, the percentage of resampling techniques at the data-level is fine-tuned to avoid losing crucial information or producing repetitive synthetic data that could cause overfitting. Additionally, the cost-sensitive learning ratio is fine-tuned to determine the misclassification costs in the minority class. The developed new preprocessing technique was found to have a positive impact in terms of F1-measure and misclassification rate in contrast to the conventional resampling techniques. Furthermore, the negative effect of financial crimes on financial institutions has grown dramatically over the years. The second contribution to this research is to develop multiple hybrid machine learning models in order to enhance the detection of fraudulent activities in the credit card fraud detection domain.
- PublicationCustomers Co-Creation Intention: The Mediating Role Of Customer Brand Engagement On Social Media In Fashion Retail(2022-01)Abdelaziz, Kesmat Mohamed ElsayedSocial media has become an important channel for marketing activities shaping customer brand engagement (CBE) and interactions. Empowered by the rise of social media, customers are no longer a ‘passive audience’ but ‘active co-producers’ who engage in behaviours that strengthen their relationship with the product or brand, such as value co-creation for innovation, particularly in the fashion retail context. Customer value co-creation is critical for marketing success and innovation, especially for fashion Micro and SMEs (MSMEs) facing rigid competition with larger firms. However, many firm-initiated co-creation activities face difficulties in attracting and engaging promising customers. Therefore, research is needed to investigate the factors influencing CBE for value co-creation intention since previous research in this area is limited. Additionally, social media allowed the emergence of influencer marketing and endorsements which significantly shape customers’ behaviors and intentions including value co-creation intention. Based on the social cognitive theory, this thesis aims to develop a research model to understand the factors influencing customers’ value cocreation intention behavior from the perspective of customer brand engagement. Moreover, social effect theory was integrated to investigate the effect of influencer marketing on customers’ value co-creation intention.
- PublicationDeterminants Of Logistics Information Technology (Lit) Innovation Implementation Towards Firm Performance By Logistics Service Providers (Lsps) In Malaysia(2023-05)Mat Salim, HanisahThis study aims to identify the determinants of Logistics Information Technology (LIT) innovation implementation towards Firm Performance (FP) by Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) in Malaysia. However, many LSPs in Malaysia have not realized the need to employ technology in their operations and haven’t implemented IT and aligned their strategies with the changes in technology. - PublicationEffect Of Outward Foreign Direct Investment On Gross Domestic Product, Domestic Investment, And Unemployment In Indonesia(2022-05)Gondo, Tutik WiryantiGross Domestic Product (GDP) of Indonesia is growing but at relatively low rates if compared to the rates before the 1997 economic crisis. This could be explained by the low domestic investment which is only at its high recently but may be due to outward Foreign Direct Investment (OFDI). As part of the implication ofklow growth rate ofGDP and domestic investment in Indonesia, the unemployment rate is started to take off again recently, after a serious decline in the last decade. This suspects that the answer lies in the outward FDI. Hence, the key questions of this study are to investigate the effect of outward FDI on GDP, domestic investment, and unemployment in Indonesia. Since OFDI is not easy to handle as it is done by private firms, this study believes that several mitigating strategies of the potential adverse effect of OFDI should be designed, namely by inviting more inward foreign direct investment (IFDI), and promoting better education, and domestic financial development. This study tries to confirm their importance by setting them as another three objectives of this study. Utilizing data of Indonesia spanning from 1980 till 2018 by using vector error correction model approach, this study confirms that OFDI has a negative impact on GDP, investment, and unemployment in Indonesia.
- PublicationEmployability And It Competency Of Accounting Graduates In Responding To 4Ir(2023-03)Zolkifli, Nur LiyanaThe Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) has rapidly expanded the use of technology and impacted businesses, including the accounting sector where the role of accounting and duties of accountants are changing quite extensively. In response to this situation, this study aims to identify and analyse the expected information technology (IT) competency of Malaysian accounting graduates in the 4IR. The gap between the job market’s expectations upon accounting graduates’ competency level has led to the formation of IT competency model at the end of the study. In this study, Neo-Correspondence Theory (NCT) is used as a theoretical lens to examine the IT competency amongst accounting graduates and the employers’ expectations in the workplace within the context of 4IR. This study uses a qualitative approach to explore the work environment and IT competency requirements from the perspectives of employers and accounting graduates. The data were collected using semi-structured interviews and documentary reviews and analysed using a thematic analysis approach. This study found that there is a gap between employers’ expectations and accounting graduates’ IT competency concerning the IT competency expected in the 4IR era. Emerging technologies require accounting graduates to have relevant and sufficient IT competencies to ensure their employability.
