- PublicationThe Association Between Financial Performance, Environmental Characteristics, Corporate Governance Mechanism And Fraudulent Financial Reporting: Evidence From Malaysian Listed Companies(2014-03)Mahanum, SulaimanThe collapse of a number of companies as a result of accounting manipulation by managers has raised serious questions about the effectiveness of the monitoring mechanism to protect investors’ interests and control managerial opportunistic behavior. This study examines financial performance, environmental characteristics and governance mechanisms on fraudulent financial reporting in Malaysia. Logit regression was performed on a sample of 36 fraud firms and 46 nofraud firms for the period of 2001 to 2009. The predictive accuracy of the logistic regression model is 66.1 percent. This study found that the greater the direct shares of the company owned by the board of director, the lesser would be the likelihood of fraudulent financial reporting. High stock ownership of board of director will increase the firm value, thus eliminating some of the inherent agency conflicts between the management and shareholders which is related to managers making decisions to benefit themselves rather than the shareholders. This study also found that the shorter the tenure of the CEO, the greater the tendency of the company to be involved in fraudulent financial reporting. Even though the internal control quality was found not to contribute significantly to fraudulent financial reporting, it was found that fraud companies, have lesser voluntary disclosure of internal control system compared to no-fraud companies. It is suggested that the Securities Commission and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants should encourage a greater level of voluntary disclosure of internal control system by all public listed companies, board of director to own greater number of shares in companies and CEO is encouraged to have a longer tenureship. Length of CEO tenureship is recommended to be 9 years or more as findings have shown that CEO with 9 years or more tenure is found to commit less in fraudulent financial reporting. This can also be included in Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirement (BMLR).
- PublicationThe Effect of trade sepecialization and institutional quality on Intra-Asean trade(2017-06)A. Bakar, NorhayatiIntra-ASEAN trade is stagnant at 20% to 25% for the past few decades. This is partly because ASEAN members are overl-reliant on non-ASEAN countries for their exports. Several suggestions have been put forward such as exchange rates and trade agreement which observed so far as having limited effect to increase intra-ASEAN trade. In this study, we propose and examine the role of trade specialization and the quality of institutions among ASEAN for a period between 1996 and 2015. ASEAN countries are generally endowed with similar resources have a tendency to compete with each other for similar .products. Specialization in certain production, while leaving the other members to produce is theoretically helpful to promote trade among ASEAN.

- PublicationThe Role Of Regulations On Bank Margins In Asean Countries(2021-11)Fatin Nur Hidayah Binti Taib KhanThe objective of this study is to investigate the role of regulations on bank margins in ASEAN countries during the period from 2009 to 2017. This study also compares the effect of regulation variables and capital regulations bank margins for both conventional and Islamic banks. Lastly, this study examines the effect of Islamic regulations on Islamic banks' margins. This study utilizes the Generalised Method of Moments and Fixed effects. Firstly, the results show that the regulation variables (activity restrictions, supervisory power, and private monitoring) significantly impact bank margins in ASEAN countries.

- PublicationThe Impact Of Non-Shari’ah Compliant Income Of Islamic Banks In Pakistan: Trust As A Mediator To Commitment Of Customers(2021-12)Muhammad UsmanIslamic banking is a contemporary concept in the modern world, finding many solutions to the problems of the modern economic system. Shari’ah law is the backbone of this system which the philosophy of the system is derived from the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Islamic banks (IBs) offer Shari'ah-compliant products to Muslims which is an essential element to gain acceptance among Muslims and maintain the confidence of all stakeholders and the general public especially related to Halal products. Also, there are certain factors (ability, benevolence, integrity, and shared values) that are essential to gain the trust and commitment of the customers in Islamic banking. Besides, non-Shariah income derived from non-Shariah compliant transactions is also a problem. Unlike conventional banks, this distinctive feature occurs within Islamic banking environments due to non-conformance with Shariah (Islamic law). For instance, USD 2421667.26 non-Shariah compliant income was reported in IBs' annual reports from 2013 to 2018.
- PublicationCustomers Co-Creation Intention: The Mediating Role Of Customer Brand Engagement On Social Media In Fashion Retail(2022-01)Abdelaziz, Kesmat Mohamed ElsayedSocial media has become an important channel for marketing activities shaping customer brand engagement (CBE) and interactions. Empowered by the rise of social media, customers are no longer a ‘passive audience’ but ‘active co-producers’ who engage in behaviours that strengthen their relationship with the product or brand, such as value co-creation for innovation, particularly in the fashion retail context. Customer value co-creation is critical for marketing success and innovation, especially for fashion Micro and SMEs (MSMEs) facing rigid competition with larger firms. However, many firm-initiated co-creation activities face difficulties in attracting and engaging promising customers. Therefore, research is needed to investigate the factors influencing CBE for value co-creation intention since previous research in this area is limited. Additionally, social media allowed the emergence of influencer marketing and endorsements which significantly shape customers’ behaviors and intentions including value co-creation intention. Based on the social cognitive theory, this thesis aims to develop a research model to understand the factors influencing customers’ value cocreation intention behavior from the perspective of customer brand engagement. Moreover, social effect theory was integrated to investigate the effect of influencer marketing on customers’ value co-creation intention.

- PublicationPsychosocial Safety Climate And Work-Related Outcomes Among Academicians In Malaysian Research Universities(2022-01)Gan, Kia HuiDrawing on the Conversion of Resources Theory and Job Demands-Resources Theory, this study intends to investigate the relationship between psychosocial safety climate and work-related outcomes (such as work engagement, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment). This study also intends to explore how job demands and job resources mediate the relationship between psychosocial safety climate and work-related outcomes (in terms of work engagement, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment). The hypotheses were tested on a sample of 484 academicians from Malaysian research universities. Data collected were analyzed using the SmartPLS software. Results revealed that psychosocial safety climate influences work-related outcomes. Both job demands and job resources were found to mediate partially the relationship between psychosocial safety climate and work-related outcomes.
- PublicationThe Relationship Between Organizational Ethical Climate, Organizational Trust, Perceived Stress, And Work Engagement: Perception Of Public-Sector Employees In The West Bank, Palestine(2022-01)Tariq T M JarrarThe current study intends to examine the relationships between organizational ethical climate dimensions (instrumental climate, caring climate, independence climate, rules climate and law and codes climate) and mediating role of organizational trust, perceived stress as a moderator and work engagement dimensions (vigor, dedication, and absorption). The current study provides better understandings for the practitioners and academicians on the concept of organizational ethical climate, organizational trust, perceived stress and work engagement in a Palestinian context. Supported by Social Exchange Theory (SET) and Theory of Moral Development (ToMD), this study utilized a research model to examine the dimensions of organizational ethical climate i.e., instrumental climate, caring climate, independence climate, rules climate and law and codes climate and work engagement, with mediating variable of organizational trust, as well as moderating variable of perceived stress. A total of 200 respondents from targeted employees of 21 employees from ministries in the West Bank of Palestine participated in this study, and Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) software is employed to test the research model and analyze the data. The present study intends to examine the organizational ethical climate, organizational trust, perceived stress, and work engagement in Palestinian ministries from the perspective of executive employees. This study proposes and analyzes a research framework that integrates all dimensions of organizational ethical climate, organizational trust, perceived stress and work engagement. For this purpose, The researcher uses 26 hypotheses that showed that organizational ethical climate practices have significant effects on organizational trust, and that organizational trust have significant effects on work engagement, and that perceived stress have significant effects on work engagement.

Moreover, multinational Corporations (MNCs) played an increasingly important role in the development of the global economy. Knowledge transfer in MNCs has been one of the key challenges in the competitive era. However, from the summary and analysis of research on knowledge transfer in previous research, it easily found that the research issues were more one-sided and not profound. Especially, for China, with special culture and environment, the current research could not solve the practical problems. The main objectives of this study were to establish a completed framework and test the influencing factors of knowledge transfer efficiency in Chinese MNCs. Therefore, this study focused on the field of knowledge transfer in MNCs and used a holistic perspective to study the influencing factors on knowledge transfer efficiency.
- PublicationGreen Supply Chain Management Affecting Organization’S Sustainability Performance In Indonesia Wooden Furniture Industry(2022-02)Juliandina, MartinaIndonesia is a major producer of hardwood tropical logs and sawn wood, plywood and other boards, paper-making pulp. However, due to reported differently, the amount and value of Indonesia's wood production is difficult to estimate with precision and does not count. There are different threats to the forest in Indonesia, ranging from large-scale logging operations to clearing the scale of family farmers, from clear-cutting to making way for industrial agriculture to frequent fire destruction. The main purpose of this study is to identify the factors such as environmental leadership, green innovation initiative and customer engagement that can affect the organization's sustainability efficiency. The bureaucratic barrier that Indonesia's domestic furniture industry faces is becoming the object of publicity. The study was conducted in Jepara, Indonesia in which 164 registered with the Indonesia Furniture Promotion Council will be the main focus of the target population. The study findings suggested that environmental leadership, green innovation and partnership with customers are important and have a positive relationship to sustainability success. The findings in this study have shown that support from the government is the key to achieving sustainable efficiency.
